How To Handle Subassemblies and Multi-Level BOMs

1. Navigate to SALES Quotes New Quote to begin the Multilevel BOM Order process.
2. Create a new quote by filling out the header fields and adding quote lines, making sure all required fields are completed.
3. When creating a Multilevel BOM Order, select Build for the Transaction Code, then click OK to add the line after completing the other required fields.
4. After all lines have been entered and the quote is ready, click the Convert to Order link from the left-side nav to open the Convert Order screen.
5. Review the sub-assemblies that make up the top-level assembly on the Convert Order screen, and use the Build? pull-down menu to determine whether internal orders and purchase orders should be created; if Yes is selected, fill out the internal customer and vendor fields.
6. Review any warnings, notifications, or prompts related to sub-assembly orders, then click Place Order to create the order.
7. After Quote to Order Conversion, review the sales order view screen, noting the pop-up message indicating what orders were created and the sub-assembly orders linked near the bottom of the left side-nav and within the Related Orders report.
8. To complete the top-level order, build and complete the subassemblies by navigating to each sub order from the Sub Order ___ link or the Related Orders link on the left side-nav.
9. Process each suborder like any other order by pulling stock, assembling or processing materials, and invoicing to relieve stock, build cost into finished goods, and receive finished goods into distinct material.
10. Use the Related Orders report to view sub order dependencies involved in the multi-level assembly build process, ignoring any phantom BOM assemblies from the transaction and fulfillment process.
11. Once suborders are completed and subassemblies exist as finished goods stock, release the top-level order by selecting Release To Warehouse from the left side-nav or access Production View by clicking the order line ID or the Production View + link.
12. After processing all sub-assembly orders and the top-level order, navigate to the Invoice/Ship screen from the sales order view, enter the Ship Qty, click Update, print packing documents, and click Create Invoice to close the order and bill the customer.
